We were asked to conduct a full annual SEMA Rack inspection report for a customer of our in Ipswich. The customer had Hilo Premier Rack Adjustable pallet racking we did regular in-house checks monthly to ensure their pallet racking was checked for damage. Upon an order received we were on site within 7 days and started getting to work. There was approx. 40 bays of racking, with very little damage noted. However upon a closer look at the last few bays we came across some real shockers, the last two upright were hidden by pallet and were obstructing our view, however after some moving we quickly realised the front uprights had severe impact damage (Red risk) that required immediate offload. These were recorded down and pointed out to the site contact.
This is a very good example of where the customer assumed his racking was in good order when in-fact we have potentially prevented a rack collapse.
